I played soccer for many years. I have played on a lot of fields, one of those being a turf field. Turf is suppose to imitate grass but its really rubber. There is a big controversy over whether it's safe or not for athletes to play on. Turf, since it is artificial grass, has chemicals present in it. People are concerned that these chemicals with constant exposure to the athlete can cause cancer or other health problems and others believe that it is perfectly fine to play on turf fields.
